First Prize: $2,000 (Over $3,500 in total prizes) (prizes in US dollars)

About this year's theme:
It's said a picture is worth a 1,000 words. And as with the
well-composed essay, the well-composed photograph can evoke
thoughts and feelings in the viewer's mind. This year's
theme, 'Through a Lens: Energy, Strength or Power' is about
conveying a sense of energy, a sense of strength, or a sense
of power to the viewer using only your image.

i am an experimental electronic sound wizard checking the local area for interested conspirators. i'd like to connect dots with diverse peoples like jazz improve dancers and/or belly dancers, fire jugglers, hula hoopers, and support through things like make-up and costume design, video/lighting VJ kinda things too. if yer interested in seeing what could happen and excited by the prospect of getting out and travelling, doing shows that shock and arouse and offer compelling/moving entertatinment... could be weird and serious, and then crazy, dada- baffeling, mysterious... a mix of the esoteric sublime the profane and the absurd for good measure. here is some of the short unfinished pieces of just jammimg out crazy beats and sounds http://myspace.com/kregstep

Local artist has published a book on his drawings and has started several smaller books for this year and could use your help!

I am looking for local faces and bodies to draw. I draw from photos so you pose just once! Whether I draw from photos you own the rights to or we meet for a casual meeting at your place or in public, the choice is yours.

If I select you to be apart of these projects, you keep a drawing as trade if I draw more than two, or get a printed copy of you pose just once. However to receive the drawing you must sign a model release giving me permission to market the drawing I have created of you.

We're starting to shoot our first film in January, titled "The Saboteurs!".

Paxton Price is a business man in his mid 20's who is about to marry Kimberly. Things change when he is hit by Virginia, an unpopular high school student, and begins suffering from amnesia. While Virginia believes he is a wild man, she begins training him to once again become a civilized man. All the while Steven DuCrane, a detective hired by Kimberly searches for missing Paxton creating theories about his disappearance, like the town's Sheriff and Lieutenant.

The film is a coming of age high school comedy mixed with a detective story.

We need a wide arrange of people to act. We've been making our own movies for 4 years and believe it's time to quit the bitch shit and go all out with a feature length film.

Shafter/Bakersfield fine arts artist is looking for other artists and models from 21-50 to network and get to know on an artistic or perhaps personal level, to help get the exposure I need and just have some fun in the progress. Learning what I can from other established artists and try to re-introducing the world an nearly lost art form: pencil drawings.

I am also looking for adults in fair to excellent health interested in modeling for two proposed pencil drawing books and perhaps make a few friends in the progress!

Two proposed books, Portraits (women and men), and The Male Figure, are currently being developed and hope to be done in 2010. All drawings will be completed from photos either provided by you or willing to pose for them at your place. I cannot pay for your service but will trade prints or original art for working with me.

I am looking for local young to middle age adults to work on a regular bases so please only serious need to apply. Fill free tyo email me if you have any questions or suggestions as to how you would like to be apart of this project. You must have a place to meet or be willing to pose if you dont have photos to draw from. If you are serious, be sure your first email has a photo and detail to which project you are interested in and why?

My first book is currently available in Bakersfield at Russo's Book's at The marketplace, The Bakersfield Museum of Arts, and can be ordered global at most booksellers such as Barnes and nobles, Amazon.com, and Borders.
