This is a very large collection of used hub caps that belonged to Lucy Pearson one of the founders of town called Pearsonville
Pearsonville is one of the more unusual communities in the Mojave Desert. Located on U.S. Highway 395 between Ridgecrest and the Owens Valley, it was founded by the Pearson family and eventually became known as the "Hubcap Capital of the World.
The town was named after Lucy Pearson and her husband Andrew Pearson, who purchased land there in 1960. They built a towing, salvage, and auto-parts business that grew into a small desert town with a restaurant, store, post office, trailer park, racetrack, and wrecking yard. At its peak during the 1980s, Pearsonville was a busy stop for travelers on Highway 395.
Lucy became famous for collecting hubcaps. Reports from the 1990s described her collection as exceeding 80,000 hubcaps, earning her the nickname "Hubcap Queen." Visitors came from around the world to see the displays covering buildings and fences around town.
One of Pearsonville's most recognizable landmarks is the giant fiberglass "Uniroyal Gal" statue that still stands near the highway. For decades it served as a roadside attraction and helped make the tiny town memorable to travelers driving between Southern California and the Eastern Sierra.
