Hi. I have 3 large stone heads of the Buddha for sale. I believe that the stone here is basalt, but it could also be sandstone. The stone carvings at the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia were made from basalt. Basalt is an igneous rock which is formed in a volcano. These stone heads are extremely heavy, especially the largest one I have. The heads have drilled holes, and sit on pieces of steel rebar which are set into heavy blocks of wood. I think that these heads were carved probably sometime in the 20th century, but the art styles are based on artistic styles going back a thousand or two thousand years or more in southeast Asia and in Gandara (modern Afghanistan). I am asking $1000 or best offer for each head, or $3000, or best offer for all three. The dimensions and weights of the heads are as follows: the lightest head, plus base, is 46.4 pounds, 18 inches high, 8.5 inches wide, and 8.5 inches deep. The second biggest, plus base, is 61.2 pounds, 18 inches high, 10 inches wide and 9.5 inches deep. The largest, plus base, is 91.2 pounds, 20 inches tall, 13 inches wide, and 13 inches deep.
