The Standing Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at a high-traffic travel truck stop. This position requires a strong presence both inside the store and outside in the parking lot to deter theft, trespassing, and other security risks. The guard will ensure that customers, employees, and property are protected at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Inside Duties:
Monitor customer and employee activity within the store to deter theft, disturbances, and unsafe behavior.
Conduct hourly walk-throughs of the interior, including restrooms and common areas, ensuring safety and cleanliness standards are maintained.
Provide assistance to employees or management in handling unruly or suspicious individuals.
Monitor entry and exit points to ensure no unauthorized removal of merchandise.
Report and document incidents, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
Outside Duties:
Patrol the parking lot and surrounding areas to deter loitering, theft, fuel theft, and unauthorized parking.
Direct semi-trucks and vehicles to designated parking areas and enforce parking rules.
Maintain a visible security presence to prevent vandalism, trespassing, or unsafe activity.
Conduct vehicle and perimeter checks to ensure the property remains secure.
Provide escorts for employees or customers to their vehicles upon request.
Qualifications
Valid state-issued security guard license/permit.
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
Ability to stand and patrol for extended periods of time.
Strong communication and conflict de-escalation skills.
Reliable, professional, and observant.
Must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for shifts of up to 12 hours.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Compensation
