Asphalt Overlay/Layover:
Asphalt overlay is a paving method of applying a new layer of asphalt to a deteriorating surface. Rather than tearing up an old asphalt surface entirely, an asphalt overlay project will use the existing layers as a base for the new asphalt pavement and more cost effective than an entire tear out.

New Driveway / Complete Tear-out and Replace:
Removing and replacing existing asphalt is a process with multiple steps. We perform each step with care to ensure smooth, stable results:
First, we must remove the existing asphalt. This can be done in a few different ways, the most common being with an asphalt milling machine. The mill grinds up the existing asphalt so that it can be hauled away and recycled.
We will then make sure the existing base is stable since the most important phase of installing pavement is to create a solid base on which to install the new asphalt. It is also at this time that we grade the stone sub-base as necessary to ensure that water flows in the appropriate direction.
We will also check the area to make sure water will not pool around the edges of your new asphalt pavement. Standing water can saturate the gravel base making it unable to withstand heavy vehicle and frost heaves.
After we prep the sub-layers, we will bring the hot-mix asphalt to the job site using triaxles. We will then proceed to put down two layers. The first layer is the binder asphalt, which is made with larger stones for greater strength. The second layer, also known as the top coat or wearing surface, is made with smaller stones to give the finished pavement a smooth surface.
After proper compaction, the lines are then repainted as desired.
