Burtch Construction is looking for a skilled Vehicle and Heavy Equipment Mechanic to keep our fleet moving. If you have extensive knowledge of diesel engines, a “get-it-done” attitude, and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty in the shop or out in the field, we want to talk to you.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing everything from light-duty vehicles to heavy-duty construction equipment.
Diagnose & Repair: calibrate devices to identify and fix malfunctions
Maintain: Perform routine hourly and monthly service/maintenance on all vehicles and equipment
Field Work: Respond to emergency repair calls and travel to job sites for inspections and repairs
Build & Fabricate: Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools; perform rebuilds and fabrication as needed
Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets Federal and State DOT regulations
What We’re Looking For
Experience: Proven experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic with strong knowledge of diesel engines
Licensing: Valid, clean California driver’s license (Class A preferred)
Education: High school diploma or GED
Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
Working Conditions
Schedule: Full-time; must be available for after-hours work if required
Physical Demands: Standing, climbing, crawling, and operating heavy machinery
Work Environment: Shop and field-based work at various job sites
Reporting: Reports directly to the Fleet Superintendent

Drive lube truck to job sites
Fuel & service diesel equipment
Change oil, filters, and fluids
Inspect equipment & report issues
Complete daily inspection logs
Keep truck clean, safe, and job-ready
✅ What You Need:
CDL Class A (HazMat, Tanker, Air Brakes)
2+ years driving experience
Clean driving record
Mechanical knowledge preferred
Current medical card
Pass drug/alcohol screening
💪 Physical Requirements:
Lift 50 lbs regularly (up to 100 lbs occasionally)
Frequent climbing, bending, standing, walking
Hands-on, physical work daily
Able to work outdoors in job site conditions
